After
years and years of searching for a house that
utilized the beauty of wood, we discovered the
world of log homes…a world that is even better
than our dreams!
|
|
Although we are
not personally involved in the construction of
our log homes, we’ve been told by both builders
and homeowners who are doing their own
construction, that the Kuhns Bros. “NO-SHOP”
Materials Package is a pleasure to
assemble. This, along with all the benefits
we’ve listed in our “Reasons To Buy” general
information, is one of the reasons we are proud
to represent Kuhns Bros. Log Homes, Inc. |
Besides being naturally
beautiful, we found that log homes have wonderful health
benefits, are surprisingly energy-efficient, and are
resistant to weather trauma such as tornados and
hurricanes.
Who could not be excited
about everybody having a log home?
For thirteen years we’ve
been sharing our excitement with folks like you. As a
result, we have seen over 70 dreams become actual log
homes. These range in size from 600 to 5,500
square feet and serve as primary residences and vacation
homes.
|
Because our goal is to provide you the basis of
a high-quality stable home, we have done the
research for you…and we have found that the
Kuhns Bros. “NO-SHOP” Materials Package is what
you need to get your dream started. Just let us
know when! |

Laugh! Learn! Get a fresh start!
All of these things happen regularly at Gilmer Learning
Center, Inc.
Located
adjacent to the Health Department, Gilmer Learning Center
has been helping adults learn in a stress-free environment
for almost 20 years. Most adult students are working toward
a GED, but this is not true for all. From beginning readers
to students brushing up for entrance tests to local colleges
or technical schools, as well as students wanting to learn
English as a Second Language, all can find a comfortable
place to learn here. After taking an initial assessment
test, students work on customized learning plans intended to
take them to their ultimate goal.
Partnerships
are forged daily! Students self-design a schedule and attend
when they can fit school into busy lives. Volunteer tutors
are available to assist with one-to-one or small group
instruction. Ms. Billie Adams, a founding matriarch of adult
literacy in Gilmer County, recently returned as a tireless
and faithful volunteer instructor. Her many years of helping
people learn and a patient, encouraging demeanor convince
students they can achieve things they never thought they
could.
We’ve been a
participant in the Certified Literate Community Program
since 1993. As such, we were charged with reducing the rate
of undereducated and illiterate adults in Gilmer County by
50% + 1. Our ambitious goal was to raise educational levels
for 2,390 students. We’ve far surpassed that, serving 2, 880
as of June 30, 2005. More than 600 people in Gilmer County
have earned their GED since our affiliation with this state
wide initiative. The state evaluation team visited June 8,
2006. We’ll be receiving our Certified Literate Community
status at a board meeting in Atlanta on September 7th.

rings to a brighter future. No one is too old to
learn!
